Head-on Collision in Nigeria Claims Over Twenty Lives

(MENAFN) A devastating head-on collision between a bus and a truck claimed the lives of at least 21 people and left three others injured on Sunday in northern Nigeria’s Kano State. According to officials, both vehicles burst into flames following the crash.

The deadly incident took place on the Zaria-Kano highway, specifically in the Kasuwar Dogo area. Muhammed Bature, the sector commander for the Federal Road Safety Corps in Kano State, confirmed that the accident was the result of a traffic violation committed by the bus driver.

Bature stated that the impact of the crash sparked a fire that consumed both vehicles, adding that the three injured survivors were swiftly taken to a nearby government hospital for treatment.

Nigeria continues to battle a high rate of fatal road accidents, with collisions frequently attributed to dangerous driving practices, poor road infrastructure, and vehicle overloading.

This latest tragedy has reignited concerns over road safety enforcement and driver compliance across the country’s major highways.
